Turning The Tide

March 17, 2007, 1000 hours, Vietnam Memorial, Washington, DC

I was 16 years old in 1968. I knew as much about the world around me as the average 16 year old did. I was aware of Vietnam because my brother took a tour there with the 25th Infantry Division and because it was always on the television. Intertwined with war news were always stories about protestors and draft card burners. They weren’t reported to us in the news as communist party and socialist inspired protestors, however. That is something I’d learn later when I was but a few years older and beginning to pay attention to such things.

The North Vietnamese began an offensive on lunar new year day in January of 1968, the year of the monkey. The Vietnamese name for the day is Tet Nguyen Dan, referred to as Tet. So now, it’s commonly called the Tet offensive of 1968. I heard about it, but knew as much about it’s implications as the average 1960’s teenager might be expected to - unless, you happened to be one of the heavily armed teenagers fighting the battles in the streets and jungles of Vietnam. What I most recall from the television news was scenes of U.S. Marines at the Battle of Hue. I learned later, as would any person willing to look, that Hue was just one defeat in what turned out to be a militarily devastating defeat for the North Vietnamese. Following Tet of 1968, the North Vietnamese, militarily defeated by their own admission, were ready to sue for peace. So, why didn’t they?

They saw the protestors in our streets preaching about American imperialism and war atrocities. Never brought up were the plentiful atrocities committed by the other side, not that it would ever justify any of our own, that would put a face on the enemy. Instead, the enemy was painted as a peasant victim of an American war of aggression. The news media in those days was as biased as it is today. The difference is that today we have many people to point out the bias. Trusted newsmen of the major networks (there was no cable or satellite television, no Internet blogs and AM radio played the Rolling Stones) never let facts like the military defeat of the North in Tet of 1968 get in the way of reporting their personal beliefs. Probably the most trusted name in news at the time, Walter Cronkite, told America that following Tet, America was defeated in Vietnam. America trusted what Uncle Wally told them. Did you ever wonder how many names were added to the Vietnam Memorial Wall after the North Vietnamese military defeat in 1968? I wonder if Walter knows.

In 1968, the enemy along with the rest of us saw the riots at the Democratic Party Convention in Chicago. Any possible political will toward victory in Vietnam was lost there. Politicians then, as now, were more concerned with their political careers than with the fate of our Nation or the sacrifice of our Troops. With protestors in the streets and personal opinion disguised as news, the tide turned against winning in Vietnam. The victories delivered by the U. S. Military on the battlefields of Southeast Asia became defeats through the efforts of street protests, biased newsrooms and the Congress of the United States. Sadly, most of America stood by and watched it happen.

In 1969, we started Vietnamization of the war. That is train up, equip and support the South Vietnamese so that they could defend themselves and we could leave. By most accounts, it was working. At least it did until 1973 when Congress decided to end “Nixon’s” war and abandon a country still dependent on us by cutting off funds to support the South Vietnamese. With our troops all but gone and promised logistical and combat air support not forthcoming, the South Vietnamese Army’s combat capability deteriorated to the point that it couldn’t defend itself against a Soviet and Chinese backed North Vietnam. Uncle Ho and Uncle Wally became forever allies in the war against American aggression.

One of the most humiliating scenes I can recall in the history of my country is watching on television the evacuation of our embassy in Saigon (now Ho Chi Minh City). People who supported and depended on us struggled to get onto the embassy grounds and aboard U.S. helicopters only to be beaten back and left to the communists. Thousands of them became boat people refugees trying to escape the country. Millions more died in reeducation camps and in Pol Pot’s killing fields. Politicians and protestors of the time will never accept responsibility for what their actions brought about. The rest of us who stood by while it happened own some responsibility too.

Four years after evacuating Saigon, Islamic Fascists took our embassy in Tehran, not surprisingly after we abandoned another ally. Whether you liked the Shah of Iran or not, is really quite irrelevant. When we did not offer him help at a time when he needed it, Islamic Fascism secured a foothold and began its worldwide support for terrorists. They knew us well. They counted on no response from us and gloated at our failed rescue attempt that was not likely to succeed in the first place. Since 1979, they’ve counted on a lack of American will to respond or sustain a fight and they’ve been right up until 9/11.

Welcome to 1968, 39 years later. I wonder if the Islamists care that it’s the year of the pig. In Iraq, we are training an Army to defend its country. At some point, we’ll equip that Army and then we’ll begin to leave along with our promises to continue support. We’re seeing an Islamist Tet now. They’re trying to kill as many innocent people as possible. Not to discourage the Iraqis, but to discourage the Americans at home whom they expect will be true to their current history of abandoning fights, and forsaking allies.

Our politicians have already shown they lack the courage to stand behind their votes that sent Soldiers to war and are looking for ways to withdraw support. Some have bragged about it. The news media still does not allow facts to get in the way of personal biases. Jane Fonda, Ramsey Clark and the other Socialist and Communist Party backed protestors are back in the streets.

Americans have choices. We can stand on the sidelines, hope for the right outcome, and prepare to evacuate embassies across the Middle East. Or, we can actively turn the tide by confronting weak-kneed politicians, biased media and the street protestors. It is the most important choice we have to make.

Every choice comes with consequence. Consider the consequence of your choice.

March 17, 2007, 1000 hours, Vietnam Memorial, Washington, DC

“Congressmen who willfully take actions during wartime that damage morale and undermine the military are saboteurs and should be arrested, exiled, or hanged.”
President Abraham Lincoln http://www.factcheck.org/article415.html - Oops.  I still like the quote, think I’ll keep it.  Somebody must’ve said it.

I want Branson’s 25 million. Give me a few cases of 100 MPH tape and a squad of Privates and I’ll solve global warming. I’ll do it by taping shut the mouths of Congress. In case you don’t know what 100MPH tape is, I’ll explain. It’s green duct tape. It’s like The Force. It has a light side and a dark side and it holds the universe together.

I’ll make my first stop at ABSCAM Jack Murtha’s office. I’ve taken heat for declaring that ABSCAM Jack wouldn’t amount to a pimple on a real Marines butt. According to some, since I’m a retired Army type and not a war hero, I’m not qualified to speak about the type of Marine Jack Murtha is or was. Fair enough. Since I’ve never been a Marine, I’ll leave that assessment to people who are or have been Marines. Some Marines read this. Maybe they’ll share with you their appraisals of Marine Murtha.

I’ll also leave the critique of him to his peers in Congress. One of them, former Representative Don Bailey (D-Pa.), wrote him a letter. In it, he recounted a conversation between the two.

“At the time you were feeling particularly vulnerable, because it wasn’t too long after you had called me crying and sobbing, thanking me for “saving your life” before the ethics committee. There was no doubt in my mind that you were expressing to me that you did not believe you did anything sufficient to earn the purple heart, and that you didn’t want to be active in my efforts to laud Vietnam Veterans that served with us….

You clearly indicated to me in a moment of weakness, that you hadn’t deserved the purple hearts and there was no confusion on that. You may deny that all you wish - but you and I know that that conversation took place….

You may be able to take advantage of a few Washington reporters who don’t have sufficient experience to understand - but you can’t fool combat veterans of the Vietnam war by hiding behind “Unit” losses - we’re used to those stories. I have my orders describing my combat awards Jack - to back up my DD-214. Where’s your’s? And Jack - don’t ever call me a liar.”

And there was this recall from World War II Navy veteran Harry M. Fox:

“However, another source, World War II Navy veteran Harry M. Fox, previously indicated that Murtha in 1968 personally asked Fox’s boss, then-U.S. Rep. John Saylor (R-Pa.), for assistance in obtaining the Purple Hearts, but was turned down because Saylor’s office determined that Murtha lacked sufficient evidence of wounds. Murtha later challenged Saylor for his House seat in 1968 and lost. Fox said he personally viewed Murtha’s military records in 1968 as Saylor’s aide… He campaigned as a war hero and I’ve never seen any documentation that he earned any of these honors,” Fox reportedly stated.”

These aren’t Swift Boaters with axes to grind with someone who betrayed them; these are his Congressional colleagues who believe that Murtha is an unethical, phony baloney, political hack. If these men are liars, I expect he’d be calling them out with some evidence. He hasn’t, he won’t. There’s no need for him to when America’s liberal media would never confront him with it. Every Military Veteran with awards can verify their authenticity.

I hold Marines in high esteem, just as I do Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Coastguardsmen. I’ve spent more than half my existence on this planet among these remarkable people. What this fraternity holds high is a code of honor built on personal integrity and loyalty – loyalty to those with whom you serve or have served, loyalty to your Country and uncompromising personal integrity. Attributes Jack Murtha sorely lacks. Murtha called Marines cold-blooded murderers without giving them the benefit of an investigation or trial (there still hasn’t been a trial). He refused to remove the cloud from over his military record as any person of integrity would. He haggled about his bribe offer during ABSCAM and then testified against the other Congressional crooks

I’m not interested. I’m sorry…at this point. You know, we do business for a while, maybe I’ll be interested, maybe I won’t…”

to save his own worthless hide. There’s no honor among thieves, liars and apparently much of Congress. With his past actions and his efforts now to abandon the Troops, he forfeited his membership in the fraternity of arms. Therefore, I apologize to all the Marines out there whom I’ve offended, Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Coastguardsmen too, for elevating Jack Murtha to the high rank of butt pimple. I must admit, I was mistaken to raise him up to that lofty stature.

“In an interview yesterday with MoveCongress.org, a Web site for a coalition of anti-war groups, Mr. Murtha, who chairs the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Defense, explained that by placing conditions on $93.4 billion in new combat funds, he would make (sic) be able to effectively stop the troops in their tracks. “They won’t be able to continue. They won’t be able to do the deployment. They won’t have the equipment, they don’t have the training and they won’t be able to do the work. There’s no question in my mind,” Mr. Murtha said. - Washington Times Editorial

Instead of supporting our Serving Men and Women, Jack Murtha and 245 of his colleagues chose to join with Cindy Sheehan, Jane Fonda, CODEPINK, ANSWER and other Marxist, anti Military, anti American, jihad sympathizers. These are the people Americans put in charge of our national security.

Jack should come by on March 17, 2007 and support his anti-Military kindred. He should bring along with him the other 245 spineless members of Congress who voted to abandon our Troops. The Fondas and Sheehans are actually better people than Murtha and his Congressional colleagues. At least they’re out front with their hatred for the Military and don’t try to hide it behind Congressional political antics. They’re honest about who they are and their salaries are not paid with my taxes.

Representative Sam Johnson is a warrior - a legitimate warrior. He’s not one of invented exploits and questionable medals. He’s the kind of warrior not generally endorsed by an American media that prefers Kerrys and Murthas. He summed up the damage of the abandonment resolution better than anyone else can. I’ll let his excerpted words stand alone. Please read the entire text of his speech here.

“We must never, ever let that happen again.

The pain inflicted by your country’s indifference is tenfold that inflicted by your ruthless captors.

Our troops - and their families - want, need and deserve the full support of the country - and the Congress. Moms and dads watching the news need to know that the Congress will not leave their sons and daughters in harm’s way without support….

Debating non-binding resolutions aimed at earning political points only destroys morale, stymies success, and emboldens the enemy.

The grim reality is that this House measure is the first step to cutting funding of the troops…Just ask John Murtha about his ’slow-bleed’ plan that hamstrings our troops in harm’s way.

Now it’s time to stand up for my friends who did not make it home - and those who fought and died in Iraq - so I can keep my promise that when we got home we would quit griping about the war and do something positive about it…and we must not allow this Congress to leave these troops like the Congress left us.”

While Serving Men and Women sacrifice, Jack Murtha and 245 other members of Congress provide aid to our enemies with a resolution of abandonment, surrender and defeat. It is a national disgrace of grand proportions. If they had the requisite character and courage to support fully the war their now meaningless votes put into motion, the Troops would be home and fewer of them would have been lost.

Maybe together, Jack and his colleagues can scrape up enough backbone to look the Troops, Veterans and their Supporters in the eyes and justify to a Gathering of Eagles why they chose to desert another generation of Americans on the battlefield. Just as they did Sam Johnson’s generation.

Saving America

J. D. Pendry

“If I had been president in October 2002, I would not have started this war.  If we in Congress don’t end this war before January 2009, as president I will.”

“Knowing what we know now, I would never have voted for it [war].”  – Hillary Clinton

You were president in October 2002 (and on September 12, 2001).  We lobbed some cruise missiles toward Afghanistan and declared victory over al Qaeda and Islamic fascism.  Instead of sitting in Hell with Zarqawi et al and wondering why all the virgins resemble Helen Thomas, Saddam Hussein is talking with al Qaeda, Ahmadinejad and Hugo Chavez about their shared goal.  Tehran and Pyong-Yang, proxies of Russia and China, blackmail the rest of the world with nuclear weapons.  bin Laden surpassed Arafat as the most frequent visitor to the Clinton Whitehouse.  While at Camp David with bin Laden and other Arafat-like terrorists, you insisted that the solution to the world’s problems lies in Israel’s capitulation to Islam.  Because of this, you didn’t have to endure alGore’s nomination for the Nobel Peace Prize.  It was yours.  Like Jimmy Carter did, you ensured peace in our time in the Middle East.  The pension funds that relied heavily on energy stock values evaporated after you Hugo Chavezed their profits, leaving millions of senior citizens in despair.  Tax increases to support a failing social security entitlement, increasing welfare and socialized medicine have taken many billions of dollars from the economy.  Inflation is at double digits, as are interest rates and unemployment.  The economy is in a deep recession.  Americans are lamenting that knowing what we know now, we would have never voted for it.  Then, thankfully, my alarm clock woke me.

Do you have a list?  I keep a mental one.  Everyday I add more names and groups of people that I’d hesitate to extinguish should I find them aflame.  Metaphorically speaking, that is, because it goes against my nature otherwise.  Heck, I’d probably put a snake out if it was on fire.  It might stamp it out, but I’d get the fire out.

They make my list with their continual assaults on America and insults to our Service Men and Women or by placing politics ahead of our national interests.  They don’t do it metaphorically either.  They happily toss flammable liquids, in the form of actions and words, toward the people who willingly stand between them and danger.  They’re competing with Jihad Jane for attention and property rights to the prime spots in our Nation’s urinals.

Butthead Bill Arkin from the Washing Post is a good example.  Butthead is a good old Southern name pronounced phonetically as Byuu – THEED.  So, I’m honoring Mr. Arkin by using it for him.  I also honor the editor of his paper Shi – THEED, which is a favored Southern name generally reserved for politicians more concerned with political gamesmanship than the future of our country.  Like those serving members of Congress wasting the tax dollars that pay their salaries while politicking become Commander in Chief.  Then there’s Lady Nancy who appears to place servitude before service, Jack Shi-THEED Murtha who Hadithas our Marines and Soldiers at any opportunity and threatens Pentagon funding if his Lady doesn’t get her airplane.

“They’re making a mistake when they leak it because she decides on allocations for them.'’ - Murtha

And, there’s liberal military hero Ehtren Watada.

All of this has become typical media, political and liberal lunacy in a country at war.  A war in which too many fail to realize what’s truly at stake.  There is a more insidious element at work however.

At the top of my list is The Party for Socialism and Liberation who was proud to announce an anti-America demonstration on March 17, 2007 organized by the Answer Coalition.  There’s an interesting collection of sponsors to this socialist anti-American event.  Among them:

Former U.S. Attorney General Ramsey Clark (who offered his services to defend Saddam Hussein)
Ultra-liberal Congresswoman Maxine Waters
Former Congresswoman Cynthia McKinney
Ron Kovic, Vietnam veteran and author of “Born on the 4th of July”
Mahdi Bray, executive director, Muslim American Society Freedom Foundation
Waleed Bader, vice chair of the National Council of Arab Americans and former president of Arab Muslim American Federation
Medea Benjamin, co-founder, CODEPINK and Global Exchange
Free Palestine Alliance
Muslim American Society Freedom Foundation
Islamic Political Party of America
FMLN (Farabundo Marti National Liberation Front)
Islamic-National Congress
Gay Liberation Network
Muslim Student Association
Jibril Hough, chairman, Islamic Political Party of America

            -The U.S. Veteran Dispatch

There’s a growing problem for this major collection of Byuu-THEEDs.  They decided to make it personal for some patriots who refuse to stand by and take it once again.

The March 17 demonstration will assemble at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial (Constitution Gardens) at 12 noon in Washington, D.C. and march to the Pentagon.

Veteran’s and supporters from across the country intend to take part in a Gathering of Eagles surrounding the Vietnam Veterans Memorial on March 17, 2007.  A call for support has gone out to members of Rolling Thunder ® and other Veteran’s organizations.  To stay abreast, get information, ask questions or find a ride to the Gathering of Eagles visit the forum.

A couple of days ago, I received an email.  It talked about the silent majority that stood by and watched while Hitler destroyed his country and killed millions.  Almost daily, some politician or media type will remind us that the killers are only a tiny percentage of Islam and that a great Silent Majority doesn’t support them.  That’s the problem, their silence.  Americans cannot stand by again while the likes of Fonda and the organizers of the March 17 demonstration demoralize and defeat our Military and our Country.

Saving America requires that the silent majority no longer be so.  Supporting the Gathering of Eagles by active participation or spreading the word by whatever means are available to you is the best way to get started.

God Bless our Serving Men and Women, Veterans, our Patriot Supporters and the United States of America.

Clowns to the Left of Me, Jokers to the Right

J. D. Pendry

My apologies, but sometimes I can’t get it done in 750 words.

Here I am, stuck in the middle with you.*   Across the land, and at many places on God’s earth, multitudes of villages are deprived of their idiot.  Unfortunately, it seems, they’ve all migrated here.

Sheehan couldn’t get it done, so the communists replaced their hapless general with their anti-Soldier mega star.  Jihad Jane rallied the guttersnipes to a Super Bowl level of Soldier-hating.

“Later, as antiwar protesters passed where he and his group were standing, words were exchanged and one of the antiwar protestors spit at the ground near Mr. Sparling; he spit back.”  New York Times

Now if we’ll toss in some Jihadi flags for them to hoist up and salute, a bale of pot, some nasty old hippies singing give peace a chance, and someone else’s medals for Kerry to toss over the Whitehouse fence, they will have recaptured their glory days.  And, once again, sadly, most of us will have stood by and watched as an insignificant collection of idiots determined the destiny of our Country and abandoned our most dedicated citizens.  In twenty years if we still exist as a country, out of guilt for their treatment of serving Men and Women, someone will stick up a memorial and declare all is healed.  I’ve seen this story before.  I know how it turns out.  It doesn’t heal.

It’s not a fluke that Jane and her Jihadi sympathizers came out.  Who do you think encouraged them?  Might I suggest:  Biden, Hagel, Reid, Pelosi, Warner, Webb, Feingold, Byrd, Rockefeller, Obama, Clinton, Kerry, Kennedy, Murtha, Specter, Durbin, Rangel, Snowe, Boxer, Conyers, just for starters.  For most Americans these, and others like them, represent the legitimizing wing of America’s Axis of Idiots.  I don’t know if they’re the Clown or Joker wing.  You decide, but in function and as far as our enemies are concerned they’re interchangeable.

We’re treated multiple times each day to their screed - one that encourages and emboldens our enemies, foreign and domestic.  They profess to speak for most Americans.  In fact, they can’t even start a conversation without telling us what a majority of Americans think.  Do I get anything special now because of my new minority status?

They cite a dubious poll or polls in general and then point to the likes of demonstrating Fondas, Code Pinkos and other assorted miscreants as proof.  The media that reported hundreds of thousands of protestors, then pared it down to tens of thousands and ultimately down to thousands hold to the same views.  They too lambaste Americans with their anti-Soldier and anti-American messages.  The Jihadi propaganda machine wishes it worked as well.  All of these self-absorbed, horses’ asses send messages of support to our enemies, of despair to our countrymen and of total disbelief to our Service Men and Women and their families.

They tell us if we hadn’t gone to Iraq, 3000 American Soldiers would not be dead.  If people didn’t go to work in the Pentagon or at the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001 or decide to travel by airliners, 3000 of them would not be dead either.  If the terrorists were not preoccupied with getting their hind-ends handed to them in every confrontation in Iraq and Afghanistan, they’d have more time to figure out how to get here and kill thousands more Americans – idiots included – that aren’t dead yet.

If there weren’t 535 people who believe they should each be Commander-in-Chief, American Soldiers would probably be home now and Iraq stabilized.

“The President shall be Commander in Chief of the Army and Navy of the United States, and of the Militia of the several States, when called into the actual Service of the United States;” Article II, Section 2, United States Constitution.

The majority of them voted to send Soldiers to war.  Ten minutes after it started fatheads, like Ted Kennedy called it a quagmire and media fools agreed.  Or, it may have been the other way around, who the hell knows?  People who don’t give a rat’s ass for the well-being of any American Soldiers started lamenting how they didn’t have enough body armor or armored vehicles.  Most of them from the same political party whose President refused to send armor support to Soldiers in Somalia when their commanders asked for it.  Then, our Soldiers become Nazis, Gulag operators, terrorists, torturers and cold-blooded murderers.  All of this from people who insist they support the troops.

For some reason the sheet music changed and the new song became we don’t have enough Nazis, Gulag operators, terrorists, torturers and cold-blooded murderers on the ground to get the job done because Rumsfeld is incompetent and is trying to fight a war on the cheap.  Then they complained it was costing too much.  We should have given all that money to The Mayor of Chocolate City, Ray Nagin.

Complaints of ill-equipped Soldiers ended when they morphed into illiterate, uneducated and downtrodden kids who wouldn’t fight given a choice in life.  Dying in war was the best they could hope for in a world controlled by evil neo-cons.  A hyperventilating media reported each casualty number as another milestone of our defeat and never once offered reasons for sacrifice other than the President lied and never once spoke of progress made through sacrifice or about how many terrorists are now roaming around in hell looking for their virgins.

The President insisted that we stay the course.  Words that mean, to any person with more than two firing brain cells, that we’ll see the job through until we meet the mission objective of a Democratic Iraq that can defend itself.  The naysayers would have none of it.  It was Rumsfeld’s plan so it couldn’t possibly work.  He had to go and we should retreat to Okinawa.  The phrase, staying the course, became a liberal obscenity with which to begin every war discussion.  So, we had ourselves a commission of stuffed shirts, not a military man or woman among them, whose report reads like Paul Simon’s 50 Ways to Leave Your Lover.  Skip out the back, Jack.  Make a new plan, Stan.

So, the President sacrificed Secretary Rumsfeld.  Together with the new secretary and some of our Nation’s top Military minds, he decided to stay the course and push for the victory our Country and Soldiers need.  There is only one problem with that.  The village idiots misread the tealeaves.  The Rumsfeld sacrifice combined with the stuffed-shirt commission report, they were sure, was the beginning of our capitulation, our second Vietnam, their victory.  Be damned what that meant for our future.

To their chagrin, we have one Commander-in-Chief capable of making hard decisions and sticking with them.  Military commanders require one boss, not 535.  He decided that we will stay the course, but with some azimuth corrections.  Victory for the United Sates in Iraq is a defeat for our idiot collective here at home, so they necessarily turned up the rhetoric and in so doing encouraged the Jihadi sympathizers led by their icon, Jane Fonda, to come out.  Stop the surge.  It may work.

The media reaches new heights to complete our circle of fools.  CNN has published terrorist sniper videos, which they label as insurgent.  It’s interesting that the be-headers are fighters or insurgents while our Soldiers are Nazis and murderers.  CBS uses al-Qaeda video for news reporting, and the New York Times decides it’s OK to publish a video and still photographs of a dying American Soldier.  I’m not too sure what we should conclude from this, but I don’t recall pictures or videos of Bob Woodruff or his cameraman or other injured journalists.  Could be I missed them.

Foolishness isn’t limited to videos and photographs, unfortunately.  This jerk, Paul Whitfield, listed as a supervisor at the LA Times decided it was time to whack Vietnam Veterans.  Why not, I mean if Jane is back, it must be open season on all Serving Men, Women and Veterans.  In Mr. Whitfield’s moronic comments, he says:

“…these Vietnam War guys are hungry for revenge.  After all, they fought in the only war the U.S. ever lost.  And they didn’t even get a parade.  So this is their chance.  We can throw them that big parade when they come marching home.”

They didn’t lose it Mr. Whitfield.  That trophy goes to idiots the likes of you.  letters@latimes.com

Jerk number 2 is William M. Arkin from the Washington Post.  Mr. Arkin is upset that Soldiers in combat might not appreciate the lack of support shown them by Mr. Arkin, his friends and his butt wipe of a newspaper.  He upset people with his first post then dug his snake hole deeper with his second.  I’m not going to repost his tripe here, but read it for yourself.  This is the support, unfortunately, that our Soldiers in danger see and read daily.  Giving them thoughts they do not need to have.  It’s hard to comprehend the greatness of the Men and Women that would sacrifice so that people like Mr. Arkin can breathe free American air and compose his imbecilic comments.  letters@washpost.com

With elected idiots on one side and the Fonda idiots and media standing on the other, you, our Soldiers and I are stuck in the middle.  Their encirclement of our Country is complete.  In World War II, a Paratrooper lamented to his commander that the Germans had them surrounded.  The Commander, an old Paratrooper responded, “Yea, the poor bastards.”
