Who Won Harry?

J. D. Pendry

You don’t mind if I call you Harry do you? I’m just an Average American and since you preface every statement you make by portending what I want, I thought we would be comfortable using first names. I could call you Senator if you like, but understand that I get a searing pain in my right temple each time I think about that. As you know me so well and seem so concerned about my desires, I’m sure that you don’t wish me any discomfort. My faith tells me I should not succumb to fits of rage, but I have simmered a bit about this one Harry. I’ll try to be civil, but I may need to ask forgiveness afterwards.

So, if we have lost this war, who won it? You haven’t exactly explained that for me or the rest of the Average Americans out here. As the twitch returns above my right temple, allow me to speculate:

“Iraq is, in fact, the central front of al Qaeda’s global campaign and we devote considerable resources to the fight against al Qaeda Iraq….

They [Qazali network responsible for the deaths of five Soldiers in Karbala] were provided substantial funding, training on Iranian soil, advanced explosive munitions and technologies as well as run of the mill arms and ammunition, in some cases advice and in some cases even a degree of direction….

And there’s no question, again, that Iranian financing is taking place through the Quds force of the Iranian Republican Guards Corps…” – General David Petraeus

Does that clear if up for you Harry?

Harry, I think you are a loser and what’s more, real Americans don’t care for losers – losers at anything much less war. You see in war, I do not recall there being a second place trophy.

“When you, here, everyone of you, were kids, you all admired the champion marble player, the fastest runner, the toughest boxer, the big league ball players, and the All-American football players. Americans love a winner. Americans will not tolerate a loser. Americans despise cowards. Americans play to win all of the time. I wouldn’t give a hoot in hell for a man who lost and laughed. That’s why Americans have never lost nor will ever lose a war; for the very idea of losing is hateful to an American.” – General George Patton

If General Patton could only see you today Harry. Americans, especially those in the Armed Forces of the United States still hold to the winning spirit described by General Patton. Of one thing, you can be certain history will paint you in a much different light than it does them. Years from now, your descendants will pick up a history book (hopefully not written by the Historical Branch of the Caliphate) written by a factual historian and not a friendly member of the media branch of the Jack Ass party. What they will learn is how you, far above all others, were so willing to surrender our country to fanatical Islamists. And for what? So, as you put it, you can win more Senate seats in 2008.

Along with Abscam Jack Murtha, who wants to slow bleed our Soldiers of reinforcements, and your partner, Nancy Pelosi, who has time for tea with a terrorist leader, but not the time of day to hear from our top field commander, you may succeed in losing this war. A war, that because of you, my two year-old Granddaughter may have to endure. History will record the number of innocent lives lost because of the actions of your caucus of defeat, and it will be many.

Life is full of choices Harry. All of them come with consequences. You believe the consequence of the choices you’ve made, as you have unashamedly expressed, will be more political power. The real consequence of your choice is encouragement to the enemy - encouragement that can only result in more lost American lives. I ask that you, and your conspirators, not ever again insult the Americans serving in the Armed Forces of the United States or their families by proclaiming that you support the troops. It is painfully clear to everyone what you support.

In this war, as it was in Vietnam, Americans will not know battlefield defeat. American politicians, at least of your brand Harry, own it, live it, long for it every day that you walk into your Congressional office to collect the people’s money and revel in your own inflated self-image. Unfortunately, politicians rarely suffer because of the defeat they work so hard to achieve. It is the Soldiers and their families, not the politicians who suffer, but no one pretends that you care about that.

I would ask you to do the honorable thing and resign, but before a man can do what is honorable he must first possess a degree of Honor.

I can’t think of a time I’ve heard such eloquent and well deserved words the great American traitor. As a Soldier, I thought that I should at least act the part of the loser I am and created a shirt that said such. Thanks for your frank words.

The Army is full of convicted felons. If not felons, then poor people who enlisted as their only hope for an education. Unbelievably, that was not John Kerry or Charles Rangel. It was Round Rosie on ABCs’ The View. Mission accomplish…

You just have to look at the mouth pieces they use to convey their efforts. The destruction of our military is now in full swing. I remember vividly the fall after Vietnam (much different then with drafted soldiers). I remember the empty years during President Carter’s administration and I also remember the pride I felt during the building of the all volunteer Army and a renewed comraderie with others in uniform. The Democrats are afraid of the military and will do anything they can to tarnish, belittle and degrade their effectiveness as a viable fighting force.

Very well written article and thoughts.
