I was born and raised there at that time it was a great place to live, but controlled by democrats that were elected by promising more and more government handouts, as the welfare projects got larger crime and drugs became uncontrollable, most middle class working people like my self moved out of New Orleans and the City lost it’s tax base from then on it was a downward spiral!! The levees failed not because of Bush but from years of political corruption inherent in the local political system, no project is built in Louisiana with out a kickback of some kind! The levee board that has control of the levee system at the time of Katrina did not have one engineer serving due to the fact that they all were political appointees. Just take a look at what happened in New Orleans, this is the exact result of Democrats socialism.
