Maybe it’s the hemorrhoids…
J. D. Pendry
I have always thought that there must be some reason for President Jimmy Carter’s poor exercise of judgment, but I have never been able to quite put a finger on what exactly it is. I thought senile dementia might explain his conduct in recent years, but that could not explain his previous decision making. I had to rely on my most trusted source of trivia for the answer. I accessed the intracranial hard drive and recalled the world news report about a severe case of Presidential hemorrhoids.
Wrote one Egyptian: “May Allah cure you. This illness should have been inflicted on an unjust leader rather than you, O Carter.”
I do not know why things such as that stick in my mind when I cannot remember my cell phone number.
It appears that President Carter has had a long struggle with this debilitating affliction. There are many physical ailments that might hamper one’s ability to reason, apply simple logic, make rational choices or at least understand the full ramifications of their actions. I imagine a fiery case of chronic hemorrhoids just might be one of them. I can see accompanying bouts of anxiety and depression and maybe even some bi-polar episodes. What else could explain a person being a Grandfatherly Sunday school teacher on one day and one who embraces terrorists and dictators on another day?
President Carter campaigned on the misery index that he invented to show Americans how miserable they were under President Ford’s administration. The misery index is arrived at by adding the inflation rate to the unemployment rate. Unfortunately, it turned out for President Carter that the misery index under his leadership is history’s worst causing President Regan’s campaign to ask, “Are you better off than you were four years ago?” Inflation and interest rates during President Carter’s reign each topped 18 percent. Imagine 18 percent interest on your car loan or your mortgage. His windfall profits tax on oil companies was a real boon to the economy too. Do you notice a pattern here? With current unemployment rates that would have been considered total employment any other time, we constantly hear how miserable we are and Presidential candidates are vowing to tag “big oil” with a windfall profits tax.
The only dictator that President Carter did not support was the Shah of Iran. The Shah of Iran probably could not have been elected President of the United States, but scanning our current field of possibilities I am not even sure that is a certainty today. As sure as hemorrhoids hurt, it is rare that we get to choose the dictators, monarchs or whatever other title of benevolence you might bestow upon them who want to be friendly towards us. There is always a chance to influence the behavior of those who are friendly.
Western liberals were not too fond of the Shah. Many, among them President Jimmy Carter, were glad to see him deposed by a more “moderate” religious holy man, the Ayatollah Khomeini. Apparently racked with searing butt pain, President Carter could not foresee the ramifications of an Islamic theocracy replacing a western leaning monarchy. That is interesting from a supposed Biblically literate Sunday school teacher. His UN Ambassador, Andrew Young, said “Khomeini will eventually be hailed as a saint” while other advisors described him as Ghandi like and of impeccable honesty and integrity. Is it possible that his whole cabinet had the piles?
The Shah bounced around in exile and eventually ended up in the United States for medical treatment. The Ayatollah demanded that we promptly send him back to Iran for a proper Islamic trial and beheading. When we did not comply with the demand, he ordered his minions to attack our embassy and take American hostages. President Carter is quite proud of his policy of restraint during those 400 plus days. Despite any bungling that followed, President Jimmy Carter owns the Iranian Theocracy and the world threatening terror it supports.
President Carter made some other memorable moves that lacked logic, at least from my small town perspective. He abandoned Taiwan, a democratic ally, in favor of the communist Chinese. Before Carter, we recognized Taiwan as the legitimate government of China. Carter decided it was better for the world if we abandoned them and recognized the communists. There were others too. Americans built the Panama Canal. We built it with an agreement that we would operate it and control the land surrounding it as long as we paid. Carter gave that away too. Reasoning that:
American ownership and control of the canal, Carter said, “exemplified those morally questionable aspects of past American foreign policy which the United States as a nation should humbly acknowledge in its striving for higher moral ground.” - Newsmax Excerpts - The Real Jimmy Carter
He was also good on national defense.
Simultaneously, Carter began hacking away at defense. In his first moth in office, he cut an already-lean defense budget by an additional $6 billion. Then in a rampage he cancels the B-1 bomber - giving congressional leaders all of one hour’s notice - defers the development of the neutron bomb, and even talks up scrapping the Trident nuclear submarine. - Newsmax Excerpts– The Real Jimmy Carter
In 2004, President Jimmy Carter certified “without reservation” the election of Thugo Chavez. No one should have been surprised when Chavez followed by repeatedly demonstrating what a complete idiot, tin pot dictator he is - a real Carter kind of guy.
Now we are at a time when our battle with terrorists and terrorism has worldwide ramifications. President Carter’s approach is to give the dignity of the Office of the President of the United States to the leader of Hamas. Hamas is a terrorist organization with American blood and the blood of innocents on its hands. It does not need the prestige that comes with a visit from a former President. With his record of fixing things, we need to be concerned.
I suggest a mega dose of Preparation H. Administered with a fire hose.
