American Journal April 28, 2013 Bad Moon Rising

We have reached a time in history, for ourselves, our country and the world where each of us will have to choose a way forward. Before doing that, we must all understand what we value and on what our personal and national foundations rest.

A few days ago, I was driving on a two lane country road around 5 AM. Country roads here in Wild and Wonderful are dark so any natural light makes a big difference on the landscape. In my view ahead was a full moon, appearing much larger than usual. It felt like I was driving right into it – a head on collision imminent. Oddly, as I was admiring the view, John Fogarty’s tune Bad Moon Rising popped into my head. No, there was no proud Mary burning just in case you are wondering.

I see a bad moon a-rising.
I see trouble on the way.
I see earth quakes and lightnin’.
I see bad times today.
Don’t go ’round tonight
It’s bound and take your life,
There’s a bad moon on the rise

Some who read this I know personally, others by Internet acquaintance and the remainder maybe not at all. I do not know on what anyone’s foundation is built or from what their values derive. I do know that too many Americans display values that are not derived from enduring principles. Principles come from natural law and therefore are firm. They are always there. They are unchanging. They endure. When values oppose principles, the outcome can be at worst catastrophic and at best a life’s lesson worth remembering. Individuals, businesses and even nations who set their paths against enduring principles always fail.

Our country was founded on enduring principles tied to “laws of nature and of nature’s God.” These principles acknowledge that by the grace of God, all people are free. Tied to that enduring principle, our Constitution was written to ensure that our government cannot abridge certain unalienable rights that are inherent in and whose purpose is to ensure the preservation of the freedom that we have through the laws of nature and from nature’s God. Freedom that is ours from the time we are conceived.

For decades, people who consider their ideology progressive or the unspoken communist have been telling us that our Constitution is not suitable for the world today. It is outdated. It needs re-writing to reflect our new American values. Values are influenced by any number of things. Wealth, popular culture, or just one’s lot in life. Principles do not change. To actively steer a nation away from the enduring principles that has guided it throughout its history is a formula for destruction or as some call it a fundamental transformation. Whatever it is dubbed, be assured that it is catastrophic for all of the nation’s people – save those few who are running it. Adolph Hitler and his NAZI party stood in firm opposition to the laws of nature and nature’s God. Not all Germans wanted Hitler, but all Germans suffered immensely because of him.

Our national leadership has embraced many positions that diametrically oppose the principles of natural law on which our nation was founded. It has worked at a feverish pace to restrict Constitutional rights that are necessary for us to stand as guardians of the freedom God gave us.

I do not know if you have been following the Kermit Gosnell murder trial. If you rely on “mainstream” print or broadcast media, you have heard little of it. Even in view of Gosnell’s butchery, our president appeared before a Planned Parenthood gathering. This organization, founded by eugenicist Margaret Sanger, is by far our nation’s largest abortion provider. They get a lot of tax dollars so we share the shame. The President finished his speech with “God bless you.” The leader of our country asked God to bless the killing of unborn children. I do not know what else to say about that, except that wagging your finger in the face of God is usually a bad idea.

The time for choosing is here. At some point, probably sooner rather than later, each of us will choose a path based on what we value. If what you value does not align with what is enduring, you are heading down the wrong path no matter how rosy the path is painted by those leading you down it. If you are an officer of the law or a serving member of the Armed Forces you may have to choose between fulfilling your oath to defend the Constitution or agreeing with the progressives that it is an old outdated document. Give your choice much deep thought and prayer.

May God bless the United States of America.

Our ‘president’ (no caps used for this idiot) signifies the lost generation of mine (since he’s a few years older than me). Instead of fighting for freedom in Europe or communist aggression in North Korea or Vietnam, our generation’s biggest accomplishment is “coming out of a closet”.

    God help us indeed…
